After I tested positive for covid, Jamie (who’d recently had the virus) volunteered to scramble to my house to set me up for anchoring my live show from home with just four hours notice. He managed it all with extraordinary speed, calm and professionalism and did so again for the next two nights. The resulting three shows were of an exceptionally high quality of TV production given the circumstances. I can’t recommend him highly enough.

Piers Morgan

Jamie Bowles is my go-to guy when filming in London. His can-do attitude is infectious and I’ve seen him magic up a silky four camera shoot in less than an hour, including sound (and break it in half that time).

He has a lovely manner with contributors, especially in sensitive situations, and is one of the most experienced guys on the block. You won’t go wrong with this guy.

As I write this, I’m on my way to a Jamie Bowles shoot….and I’ve just been told he’s already done the GVs…

Mark Daly – BBC Panorama

In our chilling film from the Ukrainian city of Lysychansk, Jamie beautifully and honestly captured the bleakness of life during the final days before occupation by Russian forces. When a shell landed close by he preempted the moment, moving and reframing to film the impact.

Jamie is always several steps ahead, responding quickly and creatively. With a range of kit and an outside-the-box approach, he’s a first rate operater.

Rohit Kachroo – ITV News Global Editor

Jamie is fantastic to work with – creative, thoughtful with an amazing eye and a delightfully calm temperament to boot. He has captured some beautifully filmic moments  and always goes the extra mile to make the piece zing. Great fun on location to have a beer with when its all done too!

Emily Maitlis

I always thoroughly enjoy working with Jamie – he’s fast, flexible and full of ideas to make shots work in the trickiest of situations.

Antony Barnett – CH 4 Dispatches

I had the pleasure of working with Jamie in Libya, on one of those assignments where nothing went as planned. He rolled with the endless changes – with good humour –  and delivered fantastic images.  He also kept across all the material,  and found time to pre cut sequences, in spite of long shooting days. This proved to be crucial when we suddenly had to edit at short notice.  The piece only made air because of him.  Nothing put Jamie off his stride – not even when an armoured car was parked on his foot. I would be happy to work him anywhere. Next time we will be more careful about the parking…..

Orla Guerin – BBC Senior International Correspondent

I’ve worked with Jamie on several documentary projects and HARDtalk interview shoots. He is a total pleasure to work with. A really gifted, creative cameraman who does it all – from fast-paced news to beautifully composed sequences and interviews. He’s editorially sharp and hugely committed to getting the story – often in tough conditions. Great, easy-going company too – which helps! Jamie also happens to be a lightning-quick and talented editor; so if you’re looking for someone who can be involved in a project from beginning to end he’s got the skillset and the drive. I strongly recommend…

Stephen Sackur – BBC

Jamie is a pure professional. Excellent at all the tasks today’s multi-media broadcast environment now demands: lives, editing and most of all shooting. Calm and assured under pressure and under fire. Also superb company. You couldn’t hope for a better member of the team.

David Chater

I have worked with Jamie Bowles a number of times on challenging and fast-turnaround reports for Newsnight: I have always found him to be unflaggingly willing, enthusiastic and with the camera chops to deliver for a demanding, flagship programme like this. I have no hesitation in recommending him highly.

Stephen Smith – BBC Newsnight

I say, ‘there’s no way we’ll get this all filmed and cut in time’ and I’m proved wrong again and again, and what’s more it’s a great piece and looks great.

I’ve tried to exhaust his patience. I haven’t managed it so far. It’s all about pointing the camera at the right person at the right moment, Jamie gets it every time.
